An empowering and empathetic approach to commercial ADR.
"Disarming" and "relational" are among the descriptors that parties and peers have shared over the years to describe Tricia's style. An active member of the Arizona legal community since 1998, Tricia is known for connecting people and concepts to create outcomes that transcend the sum of their parts.
Tricia's highly evaluative method is derived from three decades as a commercial litigator and her degree in economics. Tricia's relatable and empathic demeanor, honed over two decades of involvement in the lawyer wellness space, facilitates connections, puts people at ease, and builds trust.
As the former program director for a nationally-renowned negotiation training institute, Tricia recognizes bargaining tactics, patterns, and strategies, and leverages these and other nuances to empower mediation participants to resolve disputes.
In addition to serving on the AAA's National Roster of Mediators, Tricia is a part-time volunteer Judge Pro Tempore with the Maricopa County Superior Court, where she facilitates the resolution of litigation matters.
Tricia serves on the AAA's National Roster of Arbitrators, with an emphasis on commercial, health care, and consumer disputes. She spent much of her early career immersed in arbitration — as a student clerking for a California arbitrator, and as a New York labor lawyer in the collective bargaining context. Upon moving to Arizona, Tricia's practice shifted to commercial arbitration.
Tricia has long preferred the efficiency of a properly administered arbitration to the unpredictability and delay often associated with litigation. From the scheduling conference through the award, Tricia is scrupulous about procedural integrity and ensuring that the parties' expectations about the process are met. Threshold issues are promptly resolved, any discovery is limited and focused, and the case stays on track, culminating in a durable award.
